Life has been busy for us in the Bussear household. In early February we traveled to Orlando for a short vacation that lead up to a conference that I was attending. We arrived to 45 degree weather that stayed cold pretty much our entire trip. On top of that, Dave got sick the day before we left and was sick the whole time we were there. Despite that, we were able to go to Universal Studios and Walt Disney World and enjoy our time in the Florida sun - and it was sunny. I have decided that Walt Disney World really is the happiest place on Earth. I loved feeling like a kid again making Dave stand in line to get our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie. The sun, itself, is so rejuvenating and something about being in WDW makes me feel all filled up with happiness. Immediately upon our return, we starting talking about taking another vacation. LOL

On Valentine's Day, Dave and I stood up in our friends Kyle and Jilian's wedding. The day was SO much fun and we felt honored that they chose us to be a part of their special day.

This weekend, we are celebrating my nephew's first birthday. It absolutely does not seem possible that he already turning one. My mom, sister and I took Connor to get his pictures taken. It was a fun day and the pictures turned out so great. I would recommend the portrait studio to anyone for any pictures. They are called Portrait Innovations and they are located in Lansing but have locations all over the place. You can look them up on the web if you are interested.

In terms of a medical update, I actually just returned from the doctor. After another round of blood tests and losing TEN pounds (woo hoo for me) to rule out fatty liver, my liver enzymes are still more than double the normal range. While my doctor doesn't seem too overly concerned, she has ordered another round of tests, this time to check for hepatitis and a couple of other things. Since the elevated enzymes have happened in the past and I saw a doctor for them before she thinks I have probably already been tested for hepatitis and they will all come back negative. In the meantime, we made the decision to go ahead with the liver biopsy. She seems to think that I should not be too worried but feels that we should to the biopsy to rule out anything that we have already missed since there is obviously something going on. I was hopeful that losing the weight would lower the enzyme count and we could chalk the whole thing up to fatty liver. I am frustrated that after MONTHS of tests that we are still no closer to having an answer. Plus, I will admit that I am getting scared. I am scared of the biopsy and scared of what they are going to find. In the end though, I am just ready to do whatever it takes to get some answers. This has been a long journey and I am ready to move forward.
We love and miss all of you. Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers that everything turns out alright.
Hugs,
Melissa & Dave
